We're fixing international student recruitment with innovative solutions that our customers love.

Company Description

Enroly is dedicated to facilitating a seamless journey for prospective international students and alleviating the burdens on university recruitment, admissions, and compliance staff. As an award-winning innovator in our field, we leverage cutting-edge tools and technology to transform a stressful procedure into a smooth experience. In just six years, we've established a pivotal platform that connects the industry, becoming the go-to data source for universities, industry stakeholders, and leading publications like the Financial Times. More than a third of all UK universities utilise our services, and we're continuously expanding. Every 2 - 3 weeks, a new university joins our platform, and we plan to continue this momentum to become the industry standard solution.

We seek a Director of Engineering to lead our engineering team and support our continued expansion.

About You

As a driven and experienced engineering leader, you bring a proven track record of building and steering high-performance teams within dynamic startup or scaleup environments. Your strategic mindset, combined with a hands-on approach, ensures the development of strong interpersonal relationships within your team, fostering a culture of innovation and mutual respect. You are not one to shy away from challenges; you confront issues with resolve and a forward-thinking attitude, always ready to challenge the status quo to drive progress.

Your role is pivotal; your actions and decisions will immediately impact. You thrive in collaborative settings, working closely with the CTO, CEO, CPO and Head of Product Management to shape the future of engineering at our company. You're committed to excellence, advocating for best practices in documentation, processes, and testing to elevate our operational standards. With a keen eye on the horizon, you prepare your team for future successes through structured learning and development pathways, ensuring progression and growth. Ambitious and relentless, you're eager to push yourself and the company to new heights, making a significant mark on the industry.

The Role

Enroly Engineering has evolved into two highly skilled teams of 6 developers each, with each team including a principal engineer and a team lead. Initially, our teams were structured with all developers as full-stack to accommodate the versatile needs of our projects. However, with the application's growing complexity, we've strategically divided our focus into front-end and back-end specialisations, ensuring all engineers maintain their versatile skill sets.

As our company continues to advance, our founding CTO is transitioning towards a more strategic role, focusing on high-level problem-solving and shaping the future direction of our product and technology strategy. This pivotal shift requires a Director of Engineering to take on operational leadership responsibilities. This includes overseeing code quality, optimising release schedules, and managing day-to-day technical and administrative tasks. The Director of Engineering will play a crucial role in ensuring our engineering operations run smoothly and efficiently, freeing the CTO to focus on strategic initiatives and solving complex challenges.
