Unibuddy, a successful Series B business based in London and with teams distributed across Europe, India and North America, is looking to bring in a strong Product Lead to support us in the next phase of our delivering our mission. Our mission is to empower every student to make the right decisions along their higher education journey.
We are looking for an experienced product leader who is ambitious and up for the challenge of scaling our latest product launch, as well as continuing to drive evolution in our core product offering. This product lead will be responsible for defining a strategy to help Unibuddy influence as many students as possible, acquiring students browsing university websites and help engage them, to aid them to find answers quickly and connect with existing students. Building a retention strategy to help Universities nurture these students, to increase their recruitment team’s conversion and admissions rates. It is an exciting opportunity to be the owner of evolving and scaling our recently launch human centric AI chat bot, aiding marketing and commercial teams to drive product adoption
We are specifically looking for a driven, data-led and innovative product leader, who will leverage their B2B and B2B2C product experience and UX/UI expertise to drive innovation, people and co-lead a squad. Collaborating closely with our Head of Technology, Chief Product & Technology Officer, Founder/CEO, Engineering Leaders, Product Designer and an engineering squad, we will need you to deliver exceptional user experiences and ambitious product developments that drive our business goals and mission.
Responsibilities
Product Strategy
Build on, develop and execute a comprehensive product strategy that aligns with our commercial goals and mission, as well as complements other squads product strategy’s
Team Leadership
Lead, manage, coach and mentor direct and indirect reports to ensure high performance within the product and technology organisation. This will, as a minimum be one product squad including 1 Designer and <4 Engineers.
Deliver our ‘Leadership Outcomes’ for all those in your sphere of influence, and as a broader leader in the business, driving customer centricity and a culture of experimentation.
Collaborate on and, where appropriate, lead the optimisation of product operations, for example by defining, tracking and improving key metrics, streamlining processes, and ensuring smooth cross-functional collaboration to drive overall product success.
Collaboration & Communication
Foster collaboration within a multi discipline squad, clearly communicating goals, understanding and considering technical constraints and motivating the team to deliver effectively,
Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Marketing and Commercial, to ensure successful product launches, ongoing optimisation and commercial enablement.
Effectively communicate - written and verbally - your product strategy, roadmap and progress to your squad and stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
UX
Champion and where necessary develop/evolve user-centric design principles and advocate for exceptional and consistent user experiences across all products.
Data-driven decision making
Evidentially utilise data analytics and insights gathering to inform product decision, prioritise features, and measure product success.
Ensure all operations are budget-friendly and cost effective at all times, to ensure you are actively contributing to our cash flow positivity and profitability goals.
Innovation
Foster a culture of innovation within the business, encouraging high ROI experimentation and exploration of new ideas.
Person Specification
Demonstrated, significant and progressive experience in product design and management, with a proven track record of success in a B2B and ideally B2B2C technology environment.
You are an experienced Product Manager who has worked within high performing, cross-functional, self-organising Agile teams with
You can manage a development team on a day to day basis with ease, allowing you the thinking space to identify and define incredible, game changing experiences for our customers. Experience of leading across multiple squads desirable.
You are skilled in uncovering imaginative insights from data and research, enabling you to identify product opportunities which you can then use to define, own and drive a product strategy, inline with the business goals and objectives
You love being data driven and are highly analytical with an abundance of commercial to inform product decisions and drive commercial results.
Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team of product professionals.
You have a bias to action, willing to take ownership and also thrive in identifying how to deliver value, with demonstrable experience of juggling user, business and technical needs.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present complex ideas to diverse audiences.
You have a passion to deliver world class user experiences, intrigued by human psychology and why users act the way they do showcasing appreciation of the importance UX, visual design and copy can have on an experience
You are approachable and hungry to collaborate with other business functions, knowing that you can’t solve complex problems alone
You’re keen to actively contribute towards evolving Unibuddy’s product process and techniques to improve the craft of the entire product organisation
A clear understanding of student life, whether gained directly/personally or through others’.
Bonus points if you have a demonstrable understanding of the Higher Education sector and emerging trends.
