  • We’re 110+ employees spread across the UK, US and France.. and growing!

We’re on a mission to be the soundtrack of childhood, and help families on their own unique adventures. By creating products that inspire independent play, we help families discover and grow with an inspiring world of audio - and we would like you to help us achieve it!

Yoto Hardware Team

We are a small team with a lot of experience and passion for developing connected consumer audio products, taking them from concept through to mass production. We work closely with our internal embedded OS development and product teams, key third party suppliers and our design and manufacturing partners. We are focused on designing reliable, easy to use, innovative and fun products using the latest technologies.

Our King's Cross office is always buzzing but at the same time a large part of the Yoto Tech Team is remote first. The choice is yours but you should be able to attend face-to-face meetings or team events in London once a month. We also offer flexible working hours and a work-anywhere policy.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Investigate and analyse quality issues, defects, or failures to identify root causes.

  • Work collaboratively with design, manufacturing, and supplier engineering teams to address and resolve identified issues.

  • Generate regular reports on quality metrics, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.

  • Plan and execute testing procedures to validate hardware components, systems and products.

  • Conduct functional, performance, reliability, and stress testing to ensure product quality.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance hardware quality and reliability.

  • Implement best practices and industry standards to elevate overall product quality.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive quality assurance processes for hardware products.

  • Maintain detailed documentation of quality assurance processes, test plans, and results.

  • Willingness to infrequently travel to UK based warehouses and distribution centres, and the Far East for meetings with suppliers and CEM’s.

What you’ll need:

  • Strong electrical engineering fundamentals with around 5+ years in hardware quality engineering, preferably in the consumer electronics or semiconductor industry.

  • Highly organised with willingness for project management and issue tracking.

  • Strong understanding of hardware design and manufacturing processes.

  • Experience with high-speed and low-speed interfaces (e.g. I2C, SPI, UART, I2S, USB, MIPI) including protocol and electrical compliance.

  • Hands-on experience with hardware testing, lab equipment set-up and bench measurements for signal and power integrity.

  • Hands on hardware system rework and modification experience.

  • Familiarity with EDA tools for viewing schematics, PCB layout and gerber data.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.

  • Detail-oriented with a commitment for driving quality improvement and a real passion for shipping outstanding products.

What we offer in return

  • Share options - we’re all invested in Yoto’s success

  • Hybrid working with a choice based approach (we would love you to come into the office at least twice a month, if not more)

  • A Work from Anywhere policy giving you the opportunity to work from a different location for a temporary period

  • 25 days’ holiday per year, plus bank holidays

  • Yoto player and starter pack of cards

  • 2x volunteer days a year

  • Central London office in Kings Cross

  • A collaborative tech-focused creative environment

  • Company socials and celebrations, including our annual Yoto Fest

Salary:

£40,000 - £55,000
